The never-before-told story of the iconic Disney villain of the 1959 classic film,Sleeping Beauty.

Maleficent, a beautiful young woman with a pure heart, has an ideal life living in the harmonious heart of the woods in the kingdom, until an invasive army threatens the place. Maleficent rises as the fierce defensor of the kingdom but is later betrayed which sets motion for her hear to turn into stone. Eager to get her revenge, she starts a war against Stefan (Aurora’s dad), the son of the invader king, and so she curses his newborn baby daughter. As the little girl grows,Maleficent realizes that she holds the key to bring peace to the kingdom again, and for her (Maleficent) to possibly be happy again.

El nunca antes contado lado de la historia de la icónica villana de Disney del clásino animado, La Bella Durmiente.

Maléfica, una bella jóven con un corazón puro, tiene la vida ideal y armoniosa en el corazón de los bosques en el reino, hasta que un ejército invasor amenaza el lugar. Maléfica se alza como la fiera defensora de el reino, pero es luego traicionada, haciendo que su corazón comience a volverse piedra. Buscando su venganza, empieza una guerra contra Estéfano (el padre de Aurora), el hijo del rey invasor, y echa una maldición sobre su hija recién nacida. Al la pequeña crecer, Maléfica se da cuenta que ella tiene la clave para brindar paz al reino  y lograr que ella (Maléfica) pueda posiblemente ser feliz de nuevo.

Marc Davis 80th Birthday / El 80o Cumplaños de Marc Davis

On March 30th 1993, almost 20 years ago, Marc and Alice Davis threw a garden party with family and friends in celebration of Marc’s 80th birthday.

Andreas Deja was one of the many Disney animators to attend, and instead of getting Marc a store-bought card, he came up with an illustration of Maleficent (one of Marc’s characters) being asked to dance by Jafar (one of the characters Andreas had animated). 

In additon, he wrote the lyrics from an old song in order to point out that Maleficent had an influence on the way he designed and animated Jafar. Simple, clear lines and shapes, resulting in a stylized design for the character. Andreas animated some great villains from the Disney Renaissance, whereas Marc did two great villains from the golden age. He was truly inspired by Marc’s work, what better way to show it than in making him this home-made card.

El 30 de Marzo de 1993, es decir, hace casi 20 años, Marc y Alice Davis fueron anfitriones de una fiesta de jardín con familia y amigos en celebración de cumpleaños número 80 de Marc.

Andreas Deja fue uno de los varios animadores de Disney en atender, y en lugar de comprarle a Marc una tarjeta en una tienda, se le ocurrió una ilustración en la que Maléfica (uno de los personajes animados por Marc) estaba siendo invitada por Jafar (uno de los personajes de Andreas) a bailar. Asimismo, escribió la letra de una antigua canción para resaltar  el hecho de que Maléfica había influenciado el modo en el él diseñó a Jafar. Líneas simples y claras, resultando en un diseño estilizado para el personaje. Andreas animó a muchos grandes villanos del Renacimiento Disney, mientras que Marc hizo a dos de las mejores villanas de la época dorada. Fue claramente inspirado por el trabajo de Marc, y qué mejor forma de mostrarlo que en haciéndole esta tarjeta hecha en casa.

In the photo there is Andreas in the very 90s colorful shirt, giving Marc the card. The animation historian Charles Solomon is the one with the glasses in the middle.
