Frozen Teaser in Monsters University / Vistazo de Frozen en Monsters University

Monsters University is less than a month away! It will come to theaters June 21st, and it will bring with a teaser of Disney’s upcoming film, Frozen. This is a first look at the film, not a full-length trailer showing a bit of the essence of the film, and what we can expect. To leave us wanting to see more.

That’s another reason to watch Monsters University! As if we didn’t have enough already.

¡Monsters University está a menos de un mes de estrenarse! Estará en cines en Junio 21, y traerá consigo un vistazo de la próxima película de Disney, Frozen. Esta será la primera mirada en el filme, no un avance completo, mostrando la la esencia y lo que podemos esperar de éste. Para dejarnos deseando más.

¡Una razón más para ver Monsters University! Como si ya no tuviéramos suficientes.

The Upcoming Pixar film "Dia de los Muertos" / Película de Pixar en camino, "El Día de los Muertos"

This film, directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3), is amongst Pixar projects for the future, that was programmed to come to theatres in 2015. It delves into this mexican holiday, and it (probably, it has not been made official yet) tells the story of a family, after a loved one dies, and he/she will accompany his /her relatives in a trip filled with adventure that will take place during the “dia de los muertos".

Esta película , dirigida por Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3), está entre los proyectos futuros de Pixar, que estaba programado de  llegar en el 2015. Esta se sumerge en esta fiesta mexicana, y puede (ya que aún no es oficial) que cuente la historia de una familia. Un familiar cercano fallece, y ellos emprenden un viaje, acompañado por este familiar, lleno de aventura que toma lugar durante la fiesta del "día de los muertos".

In addition, it appears the film got almost canceled because of its polemic title. Thankfully, the project is still a go, but they are going to change the title, which is one of the reasons the release date of the film was pushed to 2016.  Other issues were involving the mexican community, feeling that this holiday is a great tradition they didn’t want stained by this film, if it was not a loyal and true portrayal of their culture.

Además, parece que la película casi fue cancelada debido a su polémico título. Por suerte, el proyecto aún está encaminado, pero el título va a ser cambiado, siendo ésta, una de las razones por la que el filme ha sido postergad para el 2016. Otros temas eran en referencia a la comunidad mexicana, y el hecho de que sentían de que esta fiesta es una gran tradición que ellos no querían fuera manchada por esta película, si es que no resultaba ser una visión verdadera y leal de su cultura.

Personally, I would love to see this film. First of all, its Pixar, they create amazing world which are ery sensitive to reality and humanity. They do their homework when it comes to cultural background too, just look at Brave. Also, I am peruvian, and The Emperor’s New Groove is not at all true to peruvian culture right now, or back in the Inca Empire then (like AT ALL). It’s just a film, just like telling a story, to have fun, to make people laugh. It’s not a documentary, so why would people get upset about something like this? I just don’t get it.

Personalmente, me encantaría ver este filme. Primero que nada, es Pixar, ellos creand increíbles mundos que son sumamente sensibles a la realidad y humanidad. Ellos hacen su tarea cuando se trata de bagaje cultural, solo miren Brave.  Como peruana, puedo decir que Las Locuras del Emperador no era real y leal a la cultura peruana ahora o en tiempos del Imperio Inca (para NADA). Sólo es una película, igual que contar un cuento, es para divertirse, para hacer reír a las personas. No es un documental, así que, ¿por qué la gente se molesta tanto por algo como esto? No lo comprendo.

Disney finally pulled the plug with the eleventh Disney Princess's 2D look after the huge number of complains and criticism (including a 200 000 signatures in change.org) they got.

Disney finalmente decidió retirar el "look" 2D de la decimoprimera Princesa Disney luego del gran número de quejas y críticas que recibieron (incluyendo unas 200 000 firmas en change.org).  

Brenda Chapman, director and writer for Brave, was one of the people completely against the makeover, saying she Merida was "sexed up". "...look at the attitude. Look at how she’s posed. Look at how much tinier her waist is and how much bigger her boobs are. Look at the off the shoulder dress." -she said in an interview with A Mighty Girl. Other criticism aims to the fact that her look went from a round-faced child-like one, to an hour-glass womanly look.

Brenda Chapman, directora y escritora de Brave, fue una de las personas que estaban completamente en desacuerdo con la transformación de Mérida, diciendo que había sido "sexualizada". "... miren la actitud. Miren su pose. Miren cuánto más pequeña es su cintura y cuánto mas grande su pecho. Miren al vestido con un escote de hombros." -dijo en una entreviste con  A Mighty Girl. Otro criticismo iba enfocado en el punto que su imagen cambió de una de una niña con cara redonda a una de una mujer con silueta de reloj de arena.

Personally, I do think they are glittering and sexing her up a bit which is not a good role-model for kids, but I don't think their intention is for girls to want to look like her, it's just about making her more appealing in the merchandise. Also, putting her in 2D makes her not stand out in a weird way with the rest, like they did with Rapunzel; it's just logical. If they have made such a fuzz with Merida, what's stopping them going after Punzie next? I think this has been blown way over proportion.

Personalmente, si pienso que la están llenado de brillo y sexualixando, cosa que no la convierte en un modelo a seguir para niñas, pero no pienso que la intención de Disney al hacer esto sea para que las niñas quieran verse como ella, simplemente buscan hacerla más atractiva en la mercancía. Además, ponerla en una versión 2D la hace no resaltar de una manera extraña con el resto, como hicieron con Rapunzel; es lógico. Si han hecho tanto alboroto con Mérida, ¿Qué los detiene de ir detrás de Rapunzel luego? Creo que esto ha sido exagerado fuera de proporción.

The Incredibles 2 on its way / Los Increíbles 2 en camino

Brad Bird, director and writer for The Incredibles (and Edna Mode’s voice) has declared to be getting ready for the film’s sequel. He admitted it was because “he loves those characters and their world”. He has already thought of many elements he thinks would work great for The Incredibles 2, but has to first finish Walt Disney Pictures’ Tomorrowland with George Clooney and Hugh Laurie, which will be released December 2014. This could mean that the superheroes film could be coming in 2016 or 2017.

Brad Bird, director y escritor de Los Increíbles (y quien brinda su voz a Edna Mode) ha declarado estar preparándose para la secuela de la película. Ha admitido que se debe a que "ama a esos personajes y su mundo". Ya ha pensado en muchos elementos que piensa funcionarían muy bien para Los Increíbles 2, pero antes debe terminar de trabajar en Tomorrowland, de Walt Disney Pictures, con George Clooney y Hugh Laurie que llegaría a los cines en Diciembre del 2014. Esto podría significa que el filme de superheroes podría estrenarse en el 2016 o 2017.

A Monstrous Summer / Un Verano Monstruoso

A 180-foot-tall Mike Wasowski's announcement of April 25th about starting the “Monstrous Summer” with a 24-hour “All-Nighter” in honor of Monsters University.  Magic Kingdom, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure to be open 24 hours the 24th! (24/24). The huge golfing ball (as many call it), Spaceship Earth was transformed to the eye-conic Disney Pixar character for the announcement.

Un Mike Wasowski de casi 60 metros de altura hizo el anuncio el 25 de Abril de que se empezará el "Verano Monstruoso" con una amanecida de 24 horas en honor a Monsters University. Magic Kingdom, Disneyland y Disney California Adventure estarán abiertos por 24 horas el dia 24 de mayo (24/24). La enorme bola de golf, como es conocida, Spaceship Earth fue transformada en el icónico personaje de Disney Pixar para el anuncio.

This will be a celebration in both coasts,  and the parks will stay open from 6 am, May 24th to 6 am, May 25th, 2013, local time.

Esta será una celebración en ambas costas, y los parques abrirán desde las 6 am el día 24 a las 6 am del 25 de Mayo, 2013, hora local.

In Florida, Magic Kingdom will be themed all Monsters University, and Sully and Mike will be Grand Marshals of the "Celebrate a Dream Come True" day parade, as well as doing appearances in Tomorrowland. Entertainment all day and night long with characters in their pajamas in Town Square, late at night and early morning, and a big dance party around the courtyard in Cinderella Castle.

In California, both parks will have as well many Monsters University- themed entertainment like TLT Monstruos Dance Club, a pajama party in Mickey's ToonTown and the new Fantasy Faire Royal Theatre will become a Royal Dance Hall at night with live band and dancing. There will be photo opportunities with new "Monsters University" dorms in Hollywood Land and a new themed float leading the Pixar Play Parade.

En Florida, Magic Kingdom tendrá una temática de Monsters University, y Sully y Mike serán los que liderarán el desfile de "Celebra un Sueño Hecho Realidad", así como estarán firmando autógrafos y tomándose fotos con los invitados en Tomorrowland. Habrá entetenimiento todo el día y noche, con personajes en pijama en la Plaza y una gran fiesta para bailar en el patio del castillo de Cenicienta.

En California, ambos parques tendrán mucho entretenimiento temático de Monsters University como Club de Baile Monstruoso TLT, una fiesta en pijamas en el ToonTown de Mickey y el nuevo Teatro Real Fantasy Faire se convertirá en un salón de baile real donde tocará una banda en vivo y se bailará toda la noche. Habrá  oportunidades para tomarse fotos con los nuevos "dormitorios" de "Monsters University" en Hollywood Land y un nuevo carro alegórico encabezando el desfile Pixar Play Parade.

Some productions take Pixar writers to the Scottish Highlands, others to the sewers of Paris, others under the sea. This time, story supervisor Kelsey Mann and the team found themselves back in school. If Monsters University looks or feels at all like your alma mater, that’s exactly what they were going for.

Algunas producciones llevan a los escritores de Pixar a las tierras altas de Escocia, otros a las alcantarillas de Paris y otros bajo el mar.Esta vez, Kelsey Mann, el supervisor de historia y el equipo se encontraron volviendo a la escuela. Si Monsters University se ve o siente como tu alma matee, es por que eso es precisamente lo que ellos pretendían.
